Goals

  • To provide violence prevention presentations to BC Students
  • To provide support groups for children and youth exposed to violence
  • To provide 1-1 support to children and youth exposed to violence
  • To provide online training to CWWA Counsellors

Overview

The "Violence Is Preventable" Project will link students to Children Who Witness Abuse (CWWA) programs throughout BC.

The goal of this project is to ensure that children and youth know that:
1. They are not responsible for the violence in their home
2. Violence Is Not Okay
3. They are NOT alone and that there are people who can help.

This project will also provide online training to Children Who Witness Abuse Counsellors so that they are able to provide programs to children and youth exposed to violence in the home and feel comfortable providing prevention and intervention programming to BC's children and youth.

Deliverables:

  •  1 Online Training Curriculum Developed and put online
  • 70 CWWA support staff will be trained 
  • 35 CWWA programs will work in BC schools 
  • A minimum of 3000 BC children and youth will benefit from the Violence Is Preventable Project.

How will the $100K be used?

Budget Notes: The Pepsi Refresh project will not cover project coordination and administration fees, This will be provided as an in-kind donation by BCSTH.
$ 50,000 To Implement the violence prevention and intervention activities
$ 50,000 To provide online training to CWWA counsellors
