Overview

The Dragons Judo Club currently offers children, adult, family, and competitive classes in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With the arrival of Edgar Lucke a 3 degree black belt in BJJ and Judo, in late 2010. The Club hopes to start many new programs in the coming year, including; Afterschool Programs, and Cross Fit training classes.

In order to properly provide these programs to the ever expending users. The club is in need of renovations to create more mat space, which will provide users with a more enjoyable and safe experience. Below is some info on two of the new programs we will be able to offer.

Afterschool Program
-The program would consist of judo training, fun games, and new methods of learning the arts of judo. We will also offer tutoring upon request for kids who require help in their studies.

Fitness and Circuit Training Classes
-The training classes will be run by JP and Edgar which will target those who want to enhance their athletic conditioning.

Community Benefit

The Dragons Judo Club will strive to be an iconic figure in the local Oromocto community. Our programs will be based on the Judo Canada Long term Athlete development program which was created as a part of the Canadian Sport for Life movement. The objectives of our program will be; to have fun through judo-related games; to develop general awareness of the body and general fitness; introduction to judo etiquette; technical development; avoid unnecessary emphasis on discipline; and develop and refine movement patterns. The principles that will guide our programs include the emphasis on fun, positive reinforcement, and adaption to a structured environment. We will make sure to expose and develop the ABC’s (Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed) of each participant. The activities in our programs will optimize the participant’s athletic development utilizing flexibility and speed. This will be achieved by traditional and modern judo drills.
