Overview

The Many Hands Project of 2010-2011 will be a major interior renovation of the Salvation Army of Fort Erie.  This building requires cosmetic and structural changes to create useable space for this organization.  This renovation of the food bank at Salvation Army in Fort Erie will include creating appropriate storage and kitchen facilities in order to better be able to serve their community. Through rejuvenating space which is currently unusable, the Salvation Army of Fort Erie hopes to eventually create a space in which they can develop youth programming. This renovations requires different skills, building materials and expertise to complete them successfully.  Renovations will occur in between January and April.  The success of this project depends on the generosity of sponsors, hopefully securing grants, the success of fundraising events run by the Event Management Students of Niagara College as well as the kindness of volunteers.

Community Benefit

The Many Hands Project will provide a non-profit organization with renovations that they cannot afford financially and do not have the resources to complete. Renovations to the Salvation Army of Fort Erie's facilities will assist in their ability to function and provide services to their community. Publicity created by this project will increase awareness for the Niagara community about the needs which currently exist in their neighbourhoods which they may not have previously been aware of. Completion of this renovation will result in a dignified food bank as well as the potential to develop youth programming. Fort Erie is in great need of rejuvenation and this renovation of the Salvation Army is the first step towards developing a stronger community. This renovation is not giving a hand out, but offering a hand up in order to better serve the less fortunate in the Fort Erie community.
