Overview

Abbotsford Connected Neighbourhoods has been working with a neighbourhood in Abbotsford characterized by high mobility, elevated crime rates, and social disengagement. Low community moral is evident through untidy lawns, clutter, and rundown housing. Other communities experiencing similar challenges have successfully used a front yard and porch improvement grant as a catalyst to rebuild community pride and upgrade the area’s physical condition and long term viability.  Abbotsford Connected Neighbourhoods, in partnership with the City of Abbotsford, will offer grants of up to $1000 to eligible recipients within the project area. Residents will use this grant to purchase materials to improve the front yard or exterior of the home facing the street. Improvements must enhance the streetscape and could include painting, lighting, siding or landscape improvements.  Applications will be assessed on a case by case basis.
