Goals

  • To purchase new and safe equipment for our neighborhood playground

Overview

IT IS OUR HOPE TO REPAIR OUR DILAPIDATED NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAYGROUND

We wish to purchase new, safe and updated playground equipment for our neighbourhood children. Currently the playground is outdated and extremely unsafe for our children. In our strata property we have an out dated wood play structure that has been treated with CCA (chromate copper arsenate) and is believed to cause cancer. All schools and public parks have removed these playgrounds due to the risk it poses to young children and pets. Our swing seats have exposed metal and are unusable; the park bench has rotted and is falling apart!! We have a teetering teeter totter and a digger that poses major pinch factors; it is not a desirable place for children to play and definately does not inspire the happiness that children should feel when they are playing in a park playground.  We want to give our neighbourhood children a safe and desirable playground to enjoy physical activity while having fun!!!

Community Benefit

This new playground will allow our children to safely play in our neighbourhood playground. The children of our community are very close friends they range in age, gender, and backgrounds- yet every day that it isnt raining they gather outside to play together. We wish to give them a place where they can have fun outdoors with their friends for many years to come! As new children come into our community they will be welcomed with the sense of belonging and with a place to play and have fun!

How will the $5K be used?
