Overview
There’s no arena in our neighbourhood for our kids to play hockey in sufficient quantity and quality. We are working with our volunteers and partners to find alternatives to fix this problem. The alternative we've found is to buy a synthetic ice rink with real ice dimensions that can be used 12 months a year, at a better cost than real ice. Building an arena for our youngsters would cost 15 to 20 million dollars. We know that we will never be able to find such an amount and we are planning to install a synthetic ice rink (see www.syntheticice.ca) in certain locations around the city. The cost of this type of rink is approximately $ 200,000 and the City would support us in our search for an appropriate location for our new ice rink.
How will the $100K be used? |

Budget Notes: This amount includes: Purchase of synthetic ice and the equipment needed for its operation. The $ 100,000 amount represents 50% of the actual cost. We do fundraisers to cover the other half. | |
