expand the Fitness Friends Program Fitness Friends

Everyday, thousands of children are segregated and isolated for a variety of reasons. They are often unaware of the oppotunities and possibilites that are available to them in their schools and community organizations.

The Fitness Friends program began in 1999 and has since had 10,155 students participate. Fitness Friends facilitates the partnership of a student with a disability with a peer to engage them in adapted physical activities and games while having fun and making new friends. Schools track student progress throughout the year and award points for each activity or game completed. At the end of the year, schools gather for the annual Fitness Friends Celebration Day.
