 A federal government study revealed that reported cases of abuse and neglect rose 125% from 1998, to 2005. At Kids Help Phone we have found that the most common search performed by youth on our website is for “abuse” or “child abuse.”

Children and youth suffering from abuse need a safe and trusted place to turn. In many cases, they do not have a dependable adult to turn to or they live in a small community where disclosure would not come with anonymity. When parents, schools and social services are unavailable, closed, backlogged or simply not accessible, Kids Help Phone is always there.

Because the service is anonymous and confidential, kids are able to evaluate their options without being committed to any consequences. When they are connected with a professional counsellor they are given the tools needed to make an informed decision and take the critical first steps towards positive change.
