Overview

SUPERNATURAL NOIR is an original operetta, performed in the style of film noir. Set in Vancouver, this serious, but comic tale centres on Slim Diggins, a psychic detective who has been asked to locate a missing toxicologist, who disappeared of the Pacific Coast. He solicits help via his Ghost Trio – a trio of musicians who act as his conscience. The theme of SUPERNATURAL NOIR is an educational look at global warming.  Our specific need is assistance in the final mount of this show. The final mount includes working with our at-risk youths and they are involved with this project and the mounting of it. This project not only provides an entertainment and educational value for our audience and outer community, but it does so for our youths as well. We expect the following:

  1. a minimum of 100 paid box office attendance per performance out of 11
  2. local and provincial press
  3. enfranchised youths
  4. employed artists
  5. guaranteed extra $10,000 in donations

Community Benefit

1. A new, work in a less frequently explored medium operetta – will be developed with a contemporary, Canadian perspective. 2. The artists in our region have the opportunity to grow through their participation in the development of new ideas and the creation of a new art form. 3. Our artists work with our Youth Mentorship students, engaging them with ideas and, in turn, being engaged by them. 4. We increase our community/audience participation by increasing our volunteer base for all operations in production. 5. Our show is accessible and affordable. We are centrally located and the building provides wheel-chair access. 6. We reach a diverse an audience as possible with many different cultural backgrounds and interests. Our mandate is to be inclusive of all cultures and ideas. 7. Our shows entertain and educate. Audiences, artists, trainees and volunteers all gain insight on our art form and subject matters. This enriches our society.
