Overview

The Trenton High School(THS) track and field complex has fallen into a state of disrepair. The track presents a major safety concern that prevents it from being utilized in the fashion for which it was intended i.e. physical education classes, sports training, track meets, exercise for disabled, walking, jogging, fitness testing (military, police, firefighters). THS has a population of 850 students both from the local community and also from CFB Trenton, many of whose parents are now serving in Afghanistan. Unfortunately, due to unsafe conditions, track meets can no longer be conducted here, thus forcing our team to travel, at increased expense, to other locations. Our local public school track and field championships are reluctantly conducted on the track since bussing costs to the next town to compete on a safer track is cost prohibitive. The Trenton High School Alumni Association  is committed to seeing the  project through to the finish line.

Community Benefit

Trenton High School (THS) lies within a region known for its natural pastimes such as fishing, hunting, boating, camping, snowmobiling, hiking, and other sports and recreational pursuits. The THS track and field facility was once the pride of the community however today it is in such an state of disrepair that it presents a negative image in an otherwise thriving community. The Trenton High School Alumni Association (THSAA) wants to return the track and field facility to its former glory. The creation of a new YMCA facility, splash pads, sports fields, refurbished hockey arenas, a skateboard park, and a newly proposed marina that will be situated along the beautiful shores of the Trent River and Bay of Quinte are some of the many projects that highlight the importance of sports and recreation as valued commodities of Quinte West. A new track complex would compliment both the existing recreational facilities and promote health, well-being and education for the community of Quinte West.
