Overview
Project Summary:
United Way's new Youth in Action Venture Program will provide grants of up to $1200 in one-time funding for youth-led social projects that will promote youth involvement and leadership; while creating positive and lasting change in our community.
This program inspires and invests in teams of young people, ages 14-23. Individuals must work with eligible community sponsors to receive the grant, and sponsors must be a registered charity based in or operating in the Central Okanagan. Potential community sponsors will be registered non-profit organizations and schools. The youth will also be mentored by local business people and philanthropists for support and advice regarding their projects.
Deliverables:
-Communicate with hundreds of youth regarding social needs in our community and get them engaged in change
-Allocate and implement approximately 10 youth projects in partnership with non-profit organizations and schools, helping countless individuals in the community
