Goals

  • Are presenting opportunities for people to make healthy choices
  • Regain their self respect and integrity in a nonjudgemental and safe
  • enviroment where they can volunteer to become a respected and
  • productive member of society.

Overview

Dare To Care is a night time contact center that operates 3 nights a week we desperately need to run 7  nights a week from 7pm to 4am.

At that time of night if anyone is hurt or abused on the street, it is often the time that they could reach out for help, rather than in the morning when they are to frightened.  This is a non-judgemental place for anyone and everyone.

The people who access the contact center will be the people who volunteer there thereby giving them back a sense of self esteem, dignity and value, as well as a sense of belonging to the community.

We have proven ourselves to be a very necessary outreach as there is no night time service at night. We need to be open 7 days a week as every weekend there are more and more people accessing our center, we keep stat sheets, sign-in sheets as well as incident reports dilegently.

We people connect or reconnect to the day time services that are available. Every night there is some kind of Medical assistant needed.

Community Benefit

The community will benefit from this program because there will be less crime in the area and more people seeking help to get off the street and to become a productive member of society.

How will the $100K be used?

Budget Notes: The budget will not cover honorariums that I pay the volunteers, they receive $20. for 8 hours and $10 for 4 hours shift. As you may or may not know $20 can feed one adult and a small child for a week. This will also not cover my insurance upgrade.
$ 96,900 one full time employee and 2 part-time
$ 3,100 for wage benefits and WCB
