Overview
The Bessborough Goes Green Bathroom Renovation Project was created to teach students about environmentally friendly renovations, reducing water and energy consumption, and how to reduce your environmental footprint. On average, conventional urinals waste 150000 gallons of water per year, and each toilet flush wastes 2-4 litres. This renovation would allow our school to save close to 2 million gallons of water per year, and reduce energy consumption by close to 80% by using energy efficient hand dryers and sensor lights. The hands-free elements would provide a more hygienic environment for students. Water and energy are valuable resources that we, and future generations must protect. This project will serve as a learning project that reinforces curricular outcomes related to environmental awareness, conservation, green energy alternatives and technology applications to reduce environmental impact.
