Overview
The Pierre-Charbonneau center's Association (ACPC) wants to install a new synthetic surface on its indoor jogging track. The current track is made of terrazzo and is very hard on the legs. This project, with a total value of more than $75,000, will be financed by the Association and by many private and public actors: for example, the Service de Police de Montréal (SPVM) and its Étudiants dans la course program, the Mercier / Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough and some private partners. About 60% of the total amount has already been raised as of June 1, 2010.
More than 75,000 people use the center each year for the various local, provincial, national and international cultural, community and sports services. More than 20,000 of these people walk on the indoor track, especially young people from HLM Boyce-Viau (low-income housing).
