- Construct a building for the St-Hyacinthe "House of Youth"
Overview
The St-Hyacinthe Youth Center has been in existence for the past 26 years and reaches,on average ,300 youth per year or 125/day. Last year the pavilion where we were staying was demolished. We are now staying in a more or less adequate place suitable for all our activities. It is actually a hockey locker room. It is very small and we have difficulty to identify ourselves. In addition, the environment outside is inappropriate given that our playground is a parking lot . So it's very dangerous and unsecure. We lost our gym and all our sport, art and entertainment activities which we used to do. We want to build a place that will be beneficial to us and the youth for the next 25 years.
Community Benefit
To Have a place just for 12-17 year olds. The House of Youth welcomes all young people regardless of their origin, background or style. It promotes group living and respect for differences. The services are free for all young people. We all have the possibility to make mistakes, experiment and start again, compare values, ideas, to have fun or be listened to, to get help and information.
