Overview

Music is a universal language that speaks to everyone. As Hans Christian Andersen said, “Where words fail, music speaks.” The string ensemble or rondalla consists of 14-stringed instruments inspired by the guitar but with its own distinctive sound. KCCC currently offers a rondalla class but aims to expand the existing rondalla class and offer it to more participants. We have 14 students ranging from 8 to 80 yrs of age. We provide the musical instruments and the lessons free of charge to the students. Currently, there is only one class a week but students are interested in more lessons. The option to offer advanced rondalla lessons and beginner classes to new students throughout the year is also planned.

The concept is for an intergenerational collaboration where young or old can learn how to play any of the musical instruments in the ensemble.The ability to play and make harmonious music brings joy not only to the participants but to the listeners as well.

How will the $25K be used?

$ 11,000 musical instruments/accessories
$ 6,000 rondalla instructor/musical arranger fees
$ 6,500 room/hall rental
$ 1,500 transportation expenses for at least 3 performances
