Goals

  • To encourage vegetable gardening for personal & enviro sustainabiilty
  • To make local connections to celebrate the community harvest & talents
  • To provide financial stability for our food-growing & sharing program
  • To promote Urban Agriculture

Overview

Soup-a-Licious will be the celebratory culmination of the food gardening season where local restaurants and chefs will be invited to create soups to share with the public. We would like the means to extend this "sip, slurp & savour" event across Canada this year.

With our Plant a Row - Grow a Row communities (who spearhead local veggie growing & sharing programs), we will start to build network linkages between vegetable gardeners and local chefs. This will be further supported with outreach to the nearby farm community to obtain additional veggies for the soup creations.

During Fall, the participating restaurants will be able to share their talents and soup creations with the public. The promotion of locally grown veggies, local restaurants and our own ability to grow food to feed our families as well as share with those in need will be key themes of Soup-a-Licious.

How will the $25K be used?

Budget Notes: - advertising - office administration - liability insurance - location rentals - existing staff salaries
$ 25,000 The hiring of two coordinators for outreach and planning
