Overview
Project Summary:
Water Street Arts Society aims to provide a safe place for creatives in Vancouver and the DTES. We aim to provide a quality venue space with safe and easy access for DTES residents. The space will provide day time studio and work space for renters while at night being a venue for shows, gallery exhibits and workshops.
Deliverables:
- 1 event a month supporting local creatives (musicians, visual artists, writers). We aim to expose 60-80 people to these creatives. Our goal would be 40-50% of creatives would be DTES (Down Town East Side) residents. All tickets/art sold goes directly to artist.
- 1 workshop a month for learning, sharing ideas and teaching. We aim to see 20-40 in attendance each workshop. Our goal would be 40-50% of teachers would be DTES residents with 30-40% of our teachers being DTES residents.
- Local press mentions (Vancouver Sun, Province, Metro)
- Providing a quality enough space that we provide 60% of our income from renters.
