Early Intervention Supplement

Early Interventionists (EI) work with children & families with developomental delays at no charge.  There are not enough EIs in NS due to lack of government funding.  This project would allow the EIs in Colchester County to do the 1st assessment and give the families information on how to work with the child's specific delay and also the physical resources (small objects, puzzles, etc) so that the parents can help their own child as opposed to being on a waitlist.

The child may or may not get off the waitlist but at least the parent has had the child assessed and can use the information and resouces to move forward.  The earlier areas of concern can be addressed the better the chance of mitigating problems.

*200 information packages
*Provincial and local press coverage
*Time donated by Early Intertventionists to explain these resources to parents
*Report to NS government on the program and its success
