Goals
- To feed needy kidney patients on Vancouver Island
Overview
Currently we have over 2300 kidney patients on Vancouver Island alone. EACH DAY 14 Canadians gets diagnosed with kidney failure often due to diabetes or hypertension. This disease is long term and often prevents patients from having a productive professional life. It often involves the family taking them to and from dialysis treatments three days a week, putting financial strain also on them as well as time looking after their ill family member.
We currently have 300 needy kidney patients on Vancouver Island which have been anonymously identified by renal social workers. We would like to provide them each with a $50 grocery gift certificate twice a year, hence would require $30,000 to accomplish this.
