Overview

Beneficiaries are low income families in Ontario with a combined annual income of $30,000 or less, caring for severely disabled children sixteen years and younger with rare disorders.  Our goal is to provide financial assistance towards the extraordinary costs associated with the care of their severely disabled children. This will facilitate home care and result in the elimination of the emotional stress, pain and loss associated with having to give up these special children.The Refresh Grant will be used for the financial assistance program, which offers eligible families up to a maximum of $400 per month for 12 months, paid monthly for a total of $4800 a year per family; thus supplementing  the inadequate Government contributions which will make a significant difference to each family’s daily existence. This Grant would allow us to assist 16  families, making a significant difference in the lives of these children, which for many is a matter of life or death.

Community Benefit

This will help to enhance the quality of life of severely disabled children being cared for at home, whilst keeping their families intact. Parents will gain relief from the financial burden placed on them as a result of caring for their special children at home.

How will the $100K be used?

$ 76,800 To help 16 families
$ 23,200 Administration and operating costs
