Overview
The pens paper and poetry project will involve creating a workshop that introduces slam poetry and creative writing to youth. It will combine hip hop and the literary arts as youth go through exercises that will stretch and extend their creativity. The workshop will also include a session in making personal homemade journals.
The project will also host a poetry contest and slam competition for various prizes. These competitions will be in an effort to engage the whole community in the literary arts and the hip hop movement. These competitions will also be used as fundraising opportunities.
The project will also host a journal exchange where people will donate to the poetry project by buying a journal for children at the Stollery Children's Hospital. We will be a liason in setting up a possible pen pal relationships. We will then host creative writing workshops in hospital setting for patients.
